As a designated J-1 visa sponsor by the U.S. Department of State, all applicants must fit the following eligibility requirements to apply for a Global Career Launch internship:
Student Status:
Applicants must be a registered full-time student attending university in Hong Kong, Macau, China or Taiwan. Every applicant must have completed at least one year of university by the start of the internship program (June 2010) and must be returning as a full-time university student in the fall.
Age:
Applicants must be between the ages of 19-26 by the start of the internship program (June 2010).
University Major or Specialization:
All specializations and majors are eligible to apply for the GCL program.
Language Requirements:
Applicants must have a strong working knowledge of English for use in professional work environments, particularly in your field of study. English language capabilities are subject to verification by AIPT and/or potential host employers by an interview.
Work History:
95% of GCL participants have 0-6 months work experience, but a strong desire to participate in international work programs.
Passport / Visa:
All applicants must hold a passport valid until at least March 2011.
Although AIPT will sponsor your visa, it is still possible for a visa application to be denied. Please see the Visa Denial section of the US State Department website before applying. It is important that you fit the US State Department’s requirements to apply for a J-1 visa.
