8-week Program: 8 June 2012 - 4 August 2012
Located on the shores of Lake Michigan, Chicago is the third largest city in the United States. The city is famous for its wonderful architecture, city parks and waterfront, professional sport teams, great food, friendly people, and summer music festivals. You can visit Chicago’s premier Navy Pier attraction, take a boat cruise on the lake or river, and go to the top of the Willis Tower. Spending a summer living and working in the United States provides every participant with life-long memories and important professional growth.
This one-of-a-kind opportunity to live and work in the United States will not only set you apart in the global job market and enhance your career prospects upon graduating from university, but it will challenge and help you grow on a personal level.
Included in the program:
Global Career Launch will include various group sightseeing and cultural activities. Last year, Chicago included the following group activities:
Spirit of Chicago: Lunch Cruise
Two-Hour Fun & Festive Cruise - While you dine, enjoy Spirit's fascinating narrated tour of the city's famous waterfront easily seen from the huge panoramic windows. During your meal, be entertained by lively performances from the talented staff and crew. After delighting you with renditions of many popular songs, the cruise kicks into high gear when the Spirit DJ spins your favorite Top-40 hits and you show off your latest moves on the dance floor.
Major League Baseball Game
Take in the sights and sounds of America' national pastime of baseball. The experience is as much about the atmosphere and socializing as it is watching the action when it comes to the rich history of the Cubs' Wrigley Field. With two teams in town, it is easy to see the world's top players take the field. Try a hot dog and put on your baseball cap and root, root, root for the home team– whether it's the White Sox or the Cubs aiming for the win!
Six Flags Great America
The highly popular Six Flags Great America amusement park has a wonderful collection of thirteen coasters that includes everything from traditional woodies to a bone-rattling hypercoaster. But Six Flags isn't just about the thrills. Its Hurricane Harbor water park (included with admission) is huge and includes Skull Island, an enormous interactive water play center. Between the two parks, Great America offers over 75 rides and attractions.
Free Weekend
This is your chance to independently travel, explore, and relax. You will have two free weekends (including one four-day weekend) to use as you see fit. You can explore other activities in your host city or you can travel to any destination within the United States. Last year, students visited New York, Los Angeles, and Florida on their free time! The Fourth of July is a national holiday in the United States and travel is very popular on that weekend; please keep this in mind if you would like to travel. Your travel and activities for this weekend are not included in your program.

My work was about online media. During my internship, I learned about so many companies in United States. For the final project, me and my workmate created a video for the marketing department of our company to sell our products.

I think internship was the most meaningful part about my program city. I improved my English skill, especially my listening skill and oral skill. Secondly, I learnt the accounting software, which applied my knowledge to the practice. Moreover, I learnt how to adapt myself to a new environment.

This internship program taught me to adapt to a new and unfamiliar environment with culture totally different from my home country. And I got a good knowledge about the work and life environment in the United States. I believe this experience will bring me a better opportunity in finding a job after graduation.
