Located on the western coast of California, San Francisco is one of the most well-known cities in the United States. The cultural and financial center of Northern California, this Bay Area city is famous for its diverse population, iconic skyline, steep hills, the infamous Alcatraz “Rock” Prison, the vibrant Fisherman’s Wharf, and of course, the world-famous Golden Gate Bridge.
San Francisco is also home to the largest and oldest Chinatown in North America. During your summer stay, you could ride the historic cable cars to and from your internship or take in the sights and sounds of Los Angeles over the weekend. It’s your summer and your experience.
This one-of-a-kind opportunity to live and work in the United States will not only set you apart in the global job market and enhance your career prospects upon graduating from university, but it will challenge and help you grow on a personal level.
Included in the program:
Global Career Launch will include various group sightseeing and cultural activities. Last year, San Francisco included the following group activities:
San Francisco Bay Lunch Cruise
Cruise along San Francisco Bay taking in all of the sights! The arresting skyline of the "City by the Bay" includes the landmark TransAmerica Pyramid, Embarcadero Center's four "fingers", Alcatraz Island, and Coit Tower on Telegraph Hill. Sail under the magnificent Golden Gate Bridge while enjoying a full buffet lunch.
Major League Baseball Game
Take in the sights and sounds of America's national pastime of baseball. The experience is as much about the atmosphere and socializing as it is watching the action at the scenic AT&T Park. Grab a hot dog and put on your baseball cap as the 2010 World Series champion San Francisco Giants try for the win!
Carmel and Monterey Tour
The Monterey and Carmel tour includes a scenic trip down the coast on Highway 1 and the world famous 17 Mile Drive in Pebble Beach. Sightseeing highlights: Highway One, Santa Cruz, Monterey, Cannery Row, 17 Mile Drive, Lone Cypress at Pebble Beach, Carmel by the Sea and return trip through Silicon Valley.
Free Weekend
This is your chance to independently travel, explore, and relax. You will have two free weekends (including one four-day weekend) to use as you see fit. You can explore other activities in your host city or you can travel to any destination within the United States. Last year, students visited New York, Los Angeles, and Florida on their free time! The Fourth of July is a national holiday in the United States and travel is very popular on that weekend; please keep this in mind if you would like to travel. Your travel and activities for this weekend are not included in your program.

My work was about online media. During my internship, I learned about so many companies in United States. For the final project, me and my workmate created a video for the marketing department of our company to sell our products.

I think internship was the most meaningful part about my program city. I improved my English skill, especially my listening skill and oral skill. Secondly, I learnt the accounting software, which applied my knowledge to the practice. Moreover, I learnt how to adapt myself to a new environment.

This internship program taught me to adapt to a new and unfamiliar environment with culture totally different from my home country. And I got a good knowledge about the work and life environment in the United States. I believe this experience will bring me a better opportunity in finding a job after graduation. I really appreciate
this program.
